Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in the love of Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. Denver's iconic anthems for Colorado have been a major influence on many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado as John Denver." Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many all over the world. On my journeys around the world, I've encountered many people who are not from Colorado. People will say, "Oh John Denver!" when they hear that you come from Colorado. Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief period of performing with small folk group included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune to Johnny Cash's tune in mind, but Denver knew from the first time he heard the earlier versions that it was going to be an instant hit. A few days after the performance to a throng of fans at Washington D.C., the singer recorded this song.
