John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit by his popular-folk hits, many of which were located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Germandorf in Roswell near New Mexico, fell in Love with Colorado. He settled in Aspen. A few took the road to Colorado following the Denver's cult tunes for the state he was raised in. I can't think of another performer that embodies Colorado such as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. For many, Denver is the Colorado image. When you encounter people from other countries, like New Zealanders and ask them "I am originally from Colorado" and they respond by saying Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working within small Folk Music groups. The song was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver heard an early version it was clear that the song could be a hit single. The song was recorded just two weeks following the Washington D.C. performance.
